Jan. 13 This Too Shall Pass

This is one of those things your mama always told you. And it can sound like an empty platitude (especially when you’re a teenager whose LIFE IS OVER from whatever). But the fact is, all things – both good and bad – will pass.
When I was in grad school, I had a temporary work situation that was so bad that I just counted each day of it as one day closer to the end. I listened to the Switchfoot song “Gone” every morning on my way to work (in my portable CD player, of course, because I’m getting on in years), and it gave me great comfort that that day would soon be gone.
We don’t want to wish away our lives, but there are times when this is comforting to remember.
