Really? I’ve gone 361 days without posting about microwaves?!
This time of year, I’m so thankful for instantly hot beverages. And I recommend this, which I just tried (I got it at the grocery store). Yum.

If you’ve ever been in a crowded church on Christmas Eve, when they turn down the lights and start passing that little flame from person to person until it makes the whole room glow, you know what I’m talking about.
The symbolism of the entrance of the Light of the World is breathtaking.

Another entry in the “I cannot believe I haven’t written this one yet” category. We had a dinner party tonight, and as I was cleaning up, I was thinking of the days in my apartment without a dishwasher. I didn’t avoid entertaining during those days, but I also didn’t entertain nearly as much as I do now. Thank goodness for a dishwasher!!

’Tis the season for wintry accoutrements! Gloves and scarves are essential for walking outside right now. Growing up in Georgia, I never had a dire need for a scarf. When I finally tried one, I was surprised that keeping your neck warm could make such a difference in overall comfort. My favorite scarf is a huge, super-soft one like this.

I don’t thank God nearly enough for having a place to live.

We put up our Christmas tree yesterday, and it is beautiful. I have always loved decorating the tree and then just sitting near it. The smell is fantastic. When I come down the stairs into our living room, I get hit with this deliciously Christmasy blast.
Every time I think about our tree, I’m singing this song in my head. Enjoy.

’Tis the season to be grateful for online shopping. In our busy first-world lives, it allows us to buy gifts without schlepping around town – ideally, giving us more time to enjoy the Christmas season! (Also, having things shipped to my office makes it easier to hide them from my husband. )

Working remotely is pretty awesome, but today I’ve kicked that up a notch and I’m working from the car. Yep, working on my way to Thanksgiving in Pennsylvania. I’m using a mobile wifi thingy. Here’s to crazy technology and getting a head start on holiday traffic!!
